This was in my IG feed. You know, at first I thought this was a joke - I really did. I mean who, in their right mind would develop a (protein) product called Soylent?? ...and trademark that name mind you.

  • Of course they are referencing Soylent Green
    *...aren't they???
  • Have they not heard the term "Soylent Green" -and what comes to mind when that term is spoken?
  • Is this a test market to see who will actually drink it? Knowing full well the Soylent reference?
  • Have we, as a people, gotten so beat down that we will ingest anything from farming, & pharmaceutical corporations without a second thought?
  • Have we gotten to a point that we trust them more than the foods/herbs that grow naturally on the Earth?
Monsanto - Soylent - Big Pharma ...the list goes on and on
  • Are we purposely being poisened? ...for profit❓❓❓❓❓
    What do you guys think?

@melbookermusic thanks for sharing a great information
This time you are not with a music or song
I always wait for a music from you

:-) @travelingwomen Thank You! I will soon. I have not written about health issues for some time now. :-) It was time for one - I think.

O thats great keep it up

I saw Soylent in the store the other day and immediately thought of Soylent Green. I'm not drinking it. They, also, have a milk like product made from yeast. Check it out here.
I'm avoiding this stuff. My health has improved drastically since avoiding processed foods.

That is crazy...this is an actual product-still hard to believe. I won't be drinking it either.

I only drink water, tea, coffee and anything with alcohol in it. Don't think this would be good as a mixer :)

Agreed, I am staying away from this stuff.

Who are the people behind Soylent? Could be a double meaning there ;)

Not sure who is behind it. This is so odd that it's an actual product.

It will shock you to know that people will actually buy this stuff. In their minds they would be like, "they rather drink liquid than chew meat."

Another reason why people would actually take this is because of their total dependence on pharmaceuticals than what's natural.

UNFORTUNATELY - YOU ARE RIGHT. I WON'T BE DRINKING IT.

the world is very strange and people will buy this stuff.. 'spend less time eating/chewing' - urgh....

@nosb ...I think you're right.

I saw it on Facebook and started laughing. I couldn't believe someone made this product. Amusingly, most of the comments were related to "Soylent Green." I don't know if this is a case of "how quickly we forget" or something else. It seems strange, though.

It is strange ...of all the names to choose, I find it hard to believe they did not see the correlation :-)

cacao

and, maybe ...people :-)

😸👍

Why is it named Soylent?

We take our name from the novel “Make Room! Make Room!” by Harry Harrison. The book explores the impact of overpopulation in a world with dwindling resources, so a new food is created that is called Soylent, which is made of soy and lentils.

Soylent products don’t actually contain the whole soybean, but rather use the protein isolate and lecithin that is derived from soy. These two elements were chosen because they are both sustainable and allow anyone who follows a specific diet to enjoy our product without having to worry.

That's the concern. Why even make that reference? Did anyone read that novel?

I think Monsanto pretty much runs the Soy industry - still, I'll pass :-)

Yes, of course it's done on purpose (as you can tell after rakkarage chimed in, lol, wow, straight from the same novel). Next we will be opening Orwell-ville for your staying pleasure. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

LOL - I hear ya. I think Monsanto pretty much runs the Soy industry - so this is a NO-GO on so many levels.

I wouldn't doubt it one bit. They run the GMO game.

This product is not sold in this part of the world that I am. Majorly sold in the US I believe. I just checked it out on seeing this post.

According to my findings, it was produced as a meal replacement and has been on sale since 2014. The name was probably picked from the movie because People were surviving with only Soylent Green and water which is what they are trying to say, that with their product, we need not cook.

Even though I don't support living on processed foods, this product could be useful for guys in the military and those working in space as back up since it's readily made, easy to carry about and not so detrimental according to tests.

The thought of Soylent Green is what puts everyone off. Plus Monsanto pretty much owns the soy industry - most soy is genetically altered.

That's true though

Interesting! They might actually be marketing it to people who have seen the movie. I feel that now more than ever we're motivated by media and pop culture.

Maybe it's a delicious chocolate shake?

I would still like to chew my meals xD

Soylent Green definitely comes to mind. :-) Plus, most Soy is genetically altered by Monsanto.

See, that's what gets me. When we think of healthy, organic comes to mind. Maybe the vocabulary should change to reflect all-natural. I'm not grossly opposed to GMOs, just wish that I was more informed without having to dig for information on what I'm already ingesting.

I heard that it was a terrifying movie. This is now on my to watch list! c:
