Chronic kidney disease describes the gradual loss of kidney function in the patient. Kidneys function by filtering waste and excess fluids and these impurities are then excreted out through urine. In the case of CKD, fluid, electrolytes, and wastes build up in the body owing to the restricted filtration functionality of the kidneys. Many studies have pointed out that glomerular mesangial cells provide support to the glomerular capillary loops and help the infiltration process, thus playing a major role as a target in chronic kidney disease. Renal endothelial cell dysfunction occurs in Chronic Kidney Disorders and leads to reduced L-arginine transport and impaired nitric oxide bioavailability.
