GeneXper examination is usually performed on patients who have M. Germerculosis Resistance to OAT (anti tb drug) is a condition where germs can no longer be killed by OAT. There is
5 categories of resistance to anti-TB drugs, namely:
Monoresistan: resistance to one OAT, eg isoniazid resistance (H)
Poliresistan: resistance to more than one OAT, in addition to a combination of isoniazid (H) and rifampicin (R), eg isoniazid and ethambutol (HE), rifampicin ethambutol (RE), ethambutol and streptomycin (HES), rifampicin ethambutol and streptomycin (RES) ).

How GeneXpert works is much more accurate than using conventional methods by examining sputum under a microscope. Because the GeneXpert machine directly examines and breaks down bacterial DNA and uses ultrasonic to destroy bacterial cells rapidly. The main advantages of this GeneXpert is the results of the examination can be known approximately 1 to 2 hours compared with conventional methods that take 2 to 3 months. Imagine that usually takes 2 - 3 months now only within 1 - 2 hours of lab results can be known immediately.
Based on the results of examination through this GeneXpert it can be done things as follows:

In the examination results if found Tuberculosis Bacteria and Rifampicin resistance occurs, it will be treated MDR-TB
In the examination results when found Tuberculosis Bacteria but no Rifampicin resistance occurs, then the patient can still be treated with treatment category 1 and 2
In the examination results if not found Tuberculosis Bacteria, then there is no need for TB treatment.
