It is an essential mineral that forms the main constituent of bone and teeth. Development of bone and teeth is influenced by fluoride in form of calcium fluoride. Tooth decay is being protected by the fluoride in the teeth and the fluoride in the bone gives shape and structure to the body. Conditions that causes bone loss in women after menopause is being treated with fluoride.

The most significant health benefit of fluoride is the ability to protect teeth and fight the key cause of tooth decay and cavity formation. Fluoride is an active component of teeth enamel which makes it impermeable and resistant to attack by harmful acids that form in the mouth from the food that we eat. Leftover food in the mouth are being digested by oral bacteria and this action leads to the formation of harmful acid that damage tooth enamel but this bacteria is not allowed to survive by the presence of fluoride in the mouth.

Or...people could just brush their teeth but I guess that would be to much self-responsibility.

Topical fluoride might be beneficial but the fact that municipalities add it to drinking water is flat out wrong. It's like the government is medicating me without my consent as I would never want to ingest anything that comes from China with a skull and crossbones printed on the packaging. Just my 2 cents.

Crazy stuff.

Yep, heard a great explanation that ingesting fluoride is like drinking sunscreen to prevent sunburn.
