Stephan W. Hawking, the Cambridge University physicist and best selling author who roamed the cosmos from a wheelchair, studying the nature of gravity and the origin of the universe, died early Wednesday at his home in Cambridge, England. He was 76.
Hawking’s first major breakthrough came in 1970, when he and Roger Penrose applied the mathematics of black holes to the universe and showed that a singularity, a region of infinite curvature in space time, lay in our distant past: the point from which came the big bang.
Dr Hawking did largely through his Books from "The Big Bang to Black Holes". He was Science's brightest star. Scientifically Dr. Hawking will be best remembered for his discoveries.
