After a great deal of hype around the new 2017 film IT, I decided to go see it with my girl friend on the weekend which seemed appropriate as IT was supposed to be a "scary movie" though this couldn't be further from the truth. After 15 minutes of the film I knew, IT wasn't the film I was expecting. And to think I could have had my girl friend clinging to me scared senseless, but instead she sat there bored checking the time and messages on her phone.
So, what was wrong with the IT remake? The film wasn't terrible, it just wasn't that great. It's no secret that there is an over useage of CGI in this film and over powering suspense music that for me killed the mood and took me out of the moment which reminded me I was just watching a movie.
Sure the actor that plays Penywise the dancing clown is great, when he's not transformed by special effects he does the role justice. How were the kids and their "chemistry"? which has been pointed out by many reviewers. It sucked and there was none. The kids all played very 2d characters, some utterlised more than others unfortunately, and in my opinion the children from the 1990 tv movie did a much better job, and they actually seemed to have more chemisty.
At the end of the day it wasn't terrible, but i would never watch IT again. I'm currently listening to the audio book from audio.com which seems much more terrifying. For an excellent video review of the 2017 Stephen King Film IT go to
