I am not interested in being controlled by anyone but myself; and having been a single mom for the last 7 years, I can tell you controlling others is not a fun time either. I would say learn to say 'no' to yourself and your desires and fears and trust your instincts about others. If something tells you that other person can't be trusted, chances are, they can't be trusted. Don't enter into a relationship with them. If a trust-worthy person suddenly becomes untrustworthy, have the strength to walk away. I have been out of a romantic relationship for so long now. This has taught me to be 100 percent okay with it. I couldn't imagine entering into a relationship where mutual respect wasn't at its center. I would have to give up too much. I know I can be trusted and I hope when the time is right, I will attract a similar person. It is so much better to be single then to be in an unhealthy relationship. So much better.
