I do not understand why this platform is so inconsistent. Sometimes I can post a video where the viewer can actually see the video icon while other times, only the url is available. Any advice? Thanks.
use embedded video. Hit share button, once it opens, hit embed button then copy and paste code into steemit. I don't have any issue doing that. Maybe your are using a mobile phone where i don't think you can embed a video using your mobile device.

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:
Submit
