Odyssey “Bridging the gap between concept and reality”

in stoneart •  3 years ago  (edited)

We at Odyssey work with designers and architects to bridge the gap between concept and reality. When we get a brief for a project the initial idea of the architect is discussed by us at anoma then cad drawings and samples are created. When the idea is finalized we move forward to the manufacturing process on our CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines.

To walk you through our process let me tell you about some of our past projects just for you to get an idea of how we work.

Architecture Pillars Designed to mark Entrance at Roseate House

We have designed and installed a red sandstone pillar at Roseate House a 7-star Premise, they (Roseate house) collaborated with the bird group of India. The principal architect who is from Thailand designed this building. Our vision was inspired by the Elephanta caves. The pillars at the caves are both for structural support as well as the acts as an entrance. The red sandstone pillar is placed outside an entrance to the hotel surrounded by water bodies such that people can view it from outside looking at the pillar as well as behind it under the canopy of the structure in the sitting area. These pillars are nine meters tall and two-meter wide at the base. The pillar weighs 40 tonnes each.

Hexagonal facade skin Installation by Urbanscape Architects.
Next, we had to design a facade for a bungalow and worked with the architect Dinesh Panwar of Urbanscape architects. The design idea was simple, we created multiple hexagonal meshes (Hex custom installation) which were spread across the envelope of the building. The whole mesh unfurled across the elevation and each brick is designed individually. The arrangement of the reticulations of the mesh is done in a kinetic manner so the whole facade appears to be moving. The panels are attached with interlocking joints and are stuck to each other one by one. The whole facade design looks like a giant lego puzzle. We at Odyssey Stone made this installation a reality and did everything from the liminal stage of discussing with the architect Dinesh Panwar to designing and sampling the products as well as manufacturing on our CNC machines with all the technical details.
