Be Able to Make Holes...

And more importantly, be able to plug holes...

As a nursing student and former infantryman I'm a firm believer in the mantra of "** Do No Harm, Do Know Harm...** " but this isn't about guns right now...

Another tragedy has struck an American school and just like clock work the activists on both sides of the gun debate are out in full force. Right along with the conspiracy/false-flag folks here on Steemit.

I'm an ardent supporter of our Second Amendment, but now is not the time.

I think we need to focus more on our response to future events. Nothing will be done about guns overnight. But teaching teachers, school administrators, and students of all levels how to treat Massive Hemorrhage could be accomplished in a relatively short time.

It is not rocket science, but applying a tourniquet or pressure bandage does require some instruction.

The Stop the Bleed initiative is primarily a program sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security. It should be taught in every school from daycares to universities.

Mass Casualty trauma kits should be placed right along side AEDs in public places.

CPR and AED classes are widely taught and accepted as a good thing. It's time we do the same for stopping blood loss.

If you need help trying to find something in your area I'll gladly help as much as I am able.
If all else fails reach out to your local fire department or police department, they may be able to put something together.

I think that is a terrific idea. We should be teaching students first aid to include how to stop bleeding. Not just for mass shootings but everyday life. You never know when you might come across and accident and be able to help save someone's life.

Exactly... It doesn't take long to teach basic stuff. Could easily be taught in a day or 2 at most with refreshers every few months.

This isn’t talked about much but vital for people to know. Until these tragedies stop it’s an unfortunate need.

Yea, unfortunately there's no easy way to stop stuff like this. Being prepared to minimize the after effects is only prudent and has the potential to save many lives.

Sounds good, but in this day and age it's either lets video it or i don't want to get involved. People need to understand life goes smoother when we all work together.

Very true. But it can't hurt to get everyone or almost everyone trained on this stuff. I think a lot of times people don't get involved simply because they freeze because its something they've only ever seen on TV or the movies.

excellent friend support your point of view, I think it's great, I was technical officer of the army of Venezuela, and those first aid applied in time to a person who has been wounded by a weapon, white or fire, can be of vital importance and help for the survival of an individual who has been injured. greetings from venezuela and remember here in venezuela we need humanitarian aid.

Yea first aid training can be very important for all kinds of situations.

So it's friend, it's important that people know how to apply them

Good write up. I'll do one of my setups soon too. I carry a large trauma kit in my truck behind the rear seat capable of handling 4-5 people. I carry one on the back of the driver seat capbable of 2 (myself and my girlfriend) and I carry one on my Mystery Ranch pack that's more of an extended IFAK. My girlfriend is a nurse so she trains me on some of the most advanced subjects. I'm military and know the basics but you should always be learning. My motto is, if you you can poke holes, you should be able to plug holes. The vehicle kits are more in preperation for accidents, but also can be used in an active shooter scenario.

Here is the first of a 4 part breakdown post.
