National Stop the Bleed Day 2018

I wasn't able to attend or assist in teaching a bleeding control class, but I did have some tools on hand to aid in hemorrhage control!

While this Ankle First Aid Kit from Ryker Nylon Gear can't carry a full aid station, especially set up as I have it to be concealable underneath a pair of chinos, it can carry some vitally important piece of kit. Specifically a tourniquet with a windlass, in this case a SOFTT-Wide. In this kit I also have Celox Rapid Ribbon gauze which is a hemostatic impregnated gauze, and a North American Rescue compact chest seal.

All of this stuff is great, but its virtually useless without training on how to use it. That is what the main objective of National Stop the Bleed Day is, to train anyone and everyone how to control massive hemorrhage. It is unfortunate that most people automatically jump to active shooter situations when thinking about this, but the reality is massive hemorrhage can occur from a motor vehicle accident, a power tool accident, or even something as mundane as an accident in the kitchen.

I encourage all of my followers, in the US at least, to find a class in their area and attend. Just like CPR and AED training has gained popularity in the past decade or two I hope that one day HEMCON (hemorrhage control) training will be taught in-conjunction with CPR and be just as popular.

Here is the site to find a FREE class near you.... https://cms.bleedingcontrol.org/class/search

I have no affiliation and receive nothing if you sign up for a class... It is entirely for your benefit and the benefit of those around you!

This are the kind of Innitiave I want to hear of in steemit, though I've never heard of an international day of bleeding people but it's amazing and interesting to know that because it gives much awareness to it.
PS. In my country Nigeria, we only do first aid training and that all.
