To fork or not to fork, a Steemizen's delimma.

in stopthepowerdown •  6 years ago  (edited)

Interesting times we are living in, dear reader.
The biggest proponent of proof of wallet at odds with the folks that gave it to him.

A fork that removes the ninjamined stake has not stolen anything.
A fork that excises the malignant actors that intentionally hijacked the original design steals nothing from them.
A fork that closes your account and moves forward absent your participation has not taken anything from you.

The old fork continues on like nothing has changed.
Your coins are still there.
Your account is safe.

Just as quick as the witnesses are in place the disruption ends.
Each fork moves forward under the new reality.

One like nothing changed, and another looking much better to its adherents.

The community does not belong to the chain, we are free to choose which chain to follow.
Maybe we will get the chance.

If they get rid of all ninja mined stakes, wouldn't that also affect @smooth, @jamesc and all those he delegates to, etc.? Or, are we talking only STINC?

That would leave a few large stakeholders, with Rancho being the biggest known one.

I'd look at freezing influence on the new fork at 500mv and letting anyone with more than that to split their stake into other accounts.

The n2 is proof of brain, abuse of that influence gave us proof of wallet.
Let them keep their coins, but cap the amount of damage they can do with them.

Are you saying no one account could vote with more than 500MV of SP (~250K SP)?

Yes, though that number is negotiable, and fluid.
As the middle class grows it can rise, too.

Only ~70 accounts would be affected.

A suite of problems that would ensue post fork are quit thorny. Relationships with exchanges already onboard, optics for investors, token value, and many, many more are both unnecessary and avoidable if we simply create a development fund just as we do any other dApp or blockchain based service.

I am neither interested in the drama, nor borrowing trouble needlessly. Let's just route around roadblocks, and get shit done.

Thanks!

Sooo,....you are saying it isn't impossible?

Really I don't care as long as proof of brain comes back.

All can see beauty as beauty only because there is ugliness. All can know good as good only because there is evil.

Yes, and good triumphs only when folks know evil, but reject it.
