As the Imperial reinforcements called to the station's aid clear the air the ground forces led by Lord Vader himself clear the ground.
Rebels are killed or when they surrender captured. The prisoners are not treated well or treated at all, they 're immediately sent to the execution where they are shot dead.
One of those prisoners is officer Kayne, he deserted the Imperial navy because of their barbaric and inhumane methods of dealing with captured rebels. One night he fled and joined the Rebel Alliance. He has been on many mercy mission and high priority operations. Now he will die an ironic death.
The death row is set up at the base of the tower. Prisoners are backed against a dirt wall which will ensure blaster shots don't make any extra damage. A line of already very worn out stormtroopers shoots at the defenseless rebels and piles their bodies so that they will be burned later.
Vader approaches one such pile of bodies. Blood and blaster bolts reflecting from his shiny black helmet. God knows what he is thinking. Could he be sorry for them? Could he despise them and be happy because of their deaths? No one will know as he just walks away silently most likely on his way to meet his master.
