The Moonlit Night

As I look out the window at the cold moonlit night a strange feeling comes across me. It is a feeling of awe and wonder but also a feeling of mystery and deep contemplation...The stillness. The absolute stillness of this winter night seems almost unreal. It feels as if I am looking into a pause in time. Only reminded of it's movement by the red blinking light on the mountain tower ahead. But right in front of me time is held still. The boundless deep blue sky is as quiet as the ocean floor and the stars stare back at me with an everlasting gaze. The snow covered rooftops glisten with the moonlight above as the chimneys exhale their silent breathes. The trees stand as still as statues and the clock forgets to turn...Every person is inside and every animal is in shelter. All that is left is the pure stillness of this cold moonlit night. The pure stillness of eternity, only moved by the red blinking light.
