“Aye Keptin?” Fisky said, stepping forward and saluting.
“We'll nae catch th' Grain Benk e'en if we sit sail tonight. We'll chart a coorse fur Comoros in th’ moorns (morning). It's Christmas...break open th' pantry an' make it plains an' hot coffee fur aw' fowk (crew)!"
“Aye, aye Sairr!”
"Hip-Hip! Hooray! Hip-Hip! Hooray! Hip-Hip! Hooray!" (Everyone)

New Year’s Eve morning found the mighty Silverton cutting fresh waters twenty miles north-east of Pemba in a fair westerly wind. The crew was in high spirits as they anticipated that perhaps the Captain might break open a grog barrel in the evening in celebration of the coming New Year. But missing from the hustle and bustle of the upper decks was the Captain himself, who resided in his private cabin with the door closed.
<<KNOCK! KNOCK!>>
The sound of a soft knock drew the attention of the Captain and he stirred from his private thoughts…
“Who's thaur?!”
“Hack Sairrr…” A familiar old voice sounded from outside.
“Comes in!” The Captain answered as he sat up straight in his chair.
Warrant Officer- Surgeon Hack opened the door and entered the cabin, shutting the door behind him.
“Ahh noticed yoo're nae oan deck thes morn?" Hack enquired politely.
“Nae Ahh’m nae. Fisky is weel capable tae guide us taday. Comoros is only a tois (two) day sail."
“Th' news has spread aw ower th' ship Joshua. Dae ye want tae gab (talk) abit it?" Hack asked as only an old friend could.
“Nae much tae gab abit. Pirate Keptin Callum has taken baith th' Scottish officer an' loon (Boy) Tipper, 'at feckin' brine scagg!" The Captain said as clenched his right fist.
“That's whit Ahh heard. But nae jist onie (any) Scottish officer Ahh hear?"
The Captain looked up at Hack. There was pain and sorrow in his eyes.
“Nae...I dornt believe it is jist onie Scottish officer. An’ Tipper...he's like a true son tae me..." The Captain said glancing away. (See entry #903: https://gold-forum.kitco.com/showthread.php?138476-Cycles/page91 )
His heart was torn, Hack could see that…
“An’ th' Scottish officer? Ye believe it's Commander Galligan dornt ye Joshua?"
The Captain looked back at him hard…
“Ye hink me a fool?!"
“Nae Ahh dornt. Ahh hink it's Galligan tay (too)."
“But by Gawd Hack, hoo coods it be?! Ye yerself pronoonced heem dead! We aw committed his body tae th' brine (sea)!" The Captain exclaimed with passion.
Hack looked out the starboard porthole as he thought…
“Ahh dunnae know Joshua. But by aw acoonts given...it seems it’s heem an' he is alife."
The Captain shook his head to clear his mind. Losing Commander Galligan was the hardest thing he had ever had to endure at sea, and now, hearing that he might be yet alive, was almost too much to comprehend. And Tipper, trapped in the clutches of Pirate Callum…the very thought sent rage and worry through his mind.
“I'll nae rest until Ah gie them both back safe! An' I'll dae everythin' an' anythin' tae dae it tay!" He said with grim determination.
“Ahh know ye will Joshua...Ahh know ye will." Hack said as he stood up, “Och an' Joshua...it's New Year's eve. Th' men woods be sorely glad tae see ye oan deck tonight...?"
“I'll be thaur mate, I'll be thaur."
