She took a closer look where the sound came from. Nothing. Jack kept barking in that direction. Finally. “Whoa! A monkey? What’s a monkey doing here?” Scrambling down into the ditch she could faintly make out large ears and a long tail. Then she saw it. A kitten completely covered in mud. The tiny kitten was barely able to breathe because it was so tangled in the weeds. It didn't move while she hacked at the plants and tangling vines. “I hate these reeds!” She exclaimed. She was afraid she was too late to save the poor kitten.
“It’s okay baby. It’s okay” she cooed while hacking at the invaders. Jack, now calm, waited at the top of the embankment.
