...I had my own fair share of police harrasment today. It happen along Ewa road just before the slaughter house. I was on my way home from school when our vehicle was stopped by a policeman that seemed to have just appeared from nowhere. as usual he was young, mid 40's, dressed in the mediocre style perculliar to our police officers.
He turned his eyes to the back of the bus like he had fore knowledge of where i was sitting and asked me alone to get down with a very calm facial expression that appeared sinister.
I highlighted from the bus with trepidation written all over me, immediately question began to flow thick and fast. "where you dey go"? Hhhmmmmm i was like what kond of question be that, then came the second question "wetin you dey do"? "wentin dey inside that bag"?. The question was jusy comin like its a who wants to be a millonaire show"oga na student i be o, i dey go house go do my laundry, which kind embarrasment be dis self"! "you dey crase, who dey embarras you"? "oya open that bag". i open my bag pack revealing its content, among other things was my laptop i carried to keep me busy while i was home,
immediately he saw my laptop, he resumed his questioning this time his tone changed and you could hear aggresion in his voice. "go meet am for there" he pointed across the road to his partner who was standing beside a bus as if he was shielding himself on purpose from public view. I stood still for some mins crestfallen, then i decided to head towrds the bus. I saw 4 guys inside, 4 victims. "enter bus make we dey go". "me enter this bus!" "oga no just think am i no dey enter anywhere" i said that pulling out my school id. "oga see my id card i no be yahoo boy" he gazed at me like he was looking into my soul, then he said "you wan dey form student for me now abi?" "carry your bag commot for here". "if to say i get your time we for know who geh power pass". before he uttered those last words i was already distant from him in search for the next bus to take me home. #Naija!
