Baikal is the cleanest, deepest, largest fresh lake on our planet.
The maximum depth of the lake is about 1640 meters. These are the five Eiffel towers.
To fill this depth with the waters of the world famous rivers: Volga, Don, Dnepr and Yenisei, Ural and Ob, Ganges and Orinoco, Amazon and Thames, Sena and Oder, they need to continuously flow into Baikal for more than 1 year.
Baikal is the most transparent lake in the world. From outer space, the relief of the Baikal bottom can be seen up to a depth of 500 meters.
Reserves of water in the lake exceed 23.6 thousand cubic kilometers. If all this water is poured on ordinary liter bottles and made up in a row, they will circle the globe over the equator 58 million times.
In winter Baikal is covered with ice more than 2 meters, and when the ice diverges, its crack resembles thunder.
If all the fresh water in the world is over, Baikal will be able to water the entire humanity of the Earth for another 5000 years (at a minimum of 0.5 liters per person per day).
