🥑MY FAMILY DECIDED TO GO FULL VEGAN🥑

in story •  8 years ago

Soo for the past, about a year now, we decided to stop eating meat. It was hard in the beggining but then I started enjoying it. Well last week we decided to go full vegan because the more we know about the animal industry the more we want to stop helping them.

So far it has been pretty easy because I already stopped (mostly) to drink milk. The hardest thing to stop for me is cheese. OMG cheese is fucking awesome but I don't want to eat it anymore. Noticed that being vegan is way cheaper.

If you are a meat eater, don't take this post as an insult. I do not care if you eat meat. It's just a decision I made. Also people, stop shaming vegans and vegeterians, they just make a sacrifice to help the planet.

Side note: I still eat honey cause it's a healthy alternative to sugar and bees still produce honey anyway. I only eat bio honey tho !

Welp that's about it for this post. Upvote comment and follow PLZ (I follow back everyone )

Check out the Isa Does It cookbook (and her cooking videos on YouTube). She makes being vegan so doable. She has a recipe for an "cheesy" sauce made with sunflower seeds and nutritional yeast.

If you haven't yet discovered nutritional yeast--it's a vegan's dream. Put it on popcorn for a cheesy flavour! I put it on pasta, too. Another good creamy sauce that helps with cheese cravings is cashew cream (boil the nuts and then blend them).

There's some good vegan cheese out there (some so gross, too).

PS: way to go!!!! It's definitely not an easy change to make but it's so awesome!

Yeah most of the vegan cheeses I tasted yet were gross ;( Thanks for the feedback ! Will be looking at this ytb channel.

Oh and btw I have discoverd nutritional yeast and it's my life right now. I've tried putting it on spaghetti and it was awesome :P

Not sure where you live, but if you can find it the Ciao brand vegan cheese is really good (especially on sandwiches and stuff).

I live in canada and I've already tried this. It's better then other that I tried but it's pretty expensive :/

Well done on turning Vegan! It's perfectly fine to make a slow transition, important is that you make the change for yourself and your family members first. After a while you'll automatically be doing this for the animals and the environment. Somehow it's just natural. Yes most people wont understand you, BUT the Vegan community is growing soooooo fast, it shall soon be completely normal! Way to go and if you and your family are ever looking for some recipe ideas then be sure to take a peep at my recipes that I shall be adding daily!

Will do ! Thanks alot for the feed back! :P

Way to go! I'm still straddling the fence between vegan and vegetarian. Sometimes I like to eat food that is convenient, like veggie burgers and unfortunately those aren't always vegan but I do go out of my way to avoid dairy as much as possible, meaning I don't eat out much and make most of my meals from scratch. I'm hoping with time more quick meal products will come out with vegans in mind. Those sort of things aren't exactly the healthiest option but they're great for a busy mom who needs a quick lunch.

That was pretty much me like last week x) Thanks for the feedback!
