My wonderful neighbors across the street, a gay womens couple..one from Venezuela, the other Cuban had asked me to collect their packages while they vacationed for July 4.
I rang the bell to deliver the packages today..as I was there, the Venezuelan girl's phone rang..she caved to the floor trembling and yelled..'mi papa..mi papa'..
Her mother was calling from Venezuela to say her very healthy 83 year old father had died in his sleep..my friend was on the floor sobbing and yelling..'mi papa, mi papa'..My friend had not seen her papa since 2012 her Cuban partner whispered...
After a few minutes I collected myself and left. Drove to the nearest flower place to pick up a meagre flower collection and a sympathy card...I was emotional and blurted out to the cashier what just happened.
The cashier walked out of her post, gave me the biggest hug possible and said there are no charges for the flowers...
Friends..I am speechless...there are no words in any language to describe what just happened.
Please pray for my Venezuelan neighbor, her father, their family..and for that flower cashier who brought me to tears...
We live but a split second on this planet..more love and more humanity calls each of us...
