Reddit NoSleep is a forum page where users can post their personal paranormal experiences online. According to the forum’s rules, all stories are believed to be true. Stories are submitted by users all over the world and some are submitted by Singaporeans about the creepy side of our little red dot.

A few of these local stories will send a chill down their spine because you never know, they might just happen to you.

1. THE NANNY CAM

This story was submitted by user TheHorrorRobot recently a few months ago. The story detailed her experience about hiring a domestic helper, Nina, to take care of her son while her husband and her were busy at work. What seemed odd was her helper’s overly quiet and unresponsive demeanour. Maybe a nanny cam would help right? Well, the author got to see Nina’s true face when she opened the nannycam one day.

“When I tapped the nanny cam app open, I couldn’t understand what Nina was doing at first. She was standing, facing the camera. I noticed that she was bent forward, her back hunched.”

2. THE LAST BUS

Many Singaporeans take the last bus home and some even wait for Night Riders on the weekends. So you might be wondering, what could be so scary about the last bus? This story submitted by user, fifteenhours-creepy, might just change your mind. The author recalls a time when she encountered a friendly bus driver on the last bus home which sheltered her from other less benevolent beings.

“As we conversed, I began to notice that the bus, for some odd reason, was stopping at each bus stop. My mind flashed back to all the stories about spirits at the bus stops and shivered involuntarily as I stared at the empty doorway infront of me as we pulled up at yet another empty bus stop.”

3. MEDICAL WASTE AND WHAT IT ATTRACTS

Singapore supernatural folklore is never complete with at least one story from the army days. Apart from digging trenches and doing pushups while someone with a higher rank is screaming at you, soldiers also have to deal with the supernatural. Tough luck. This creepy story was submitted by Reddit user, Flocculencio. He shares his experience as an army medic during National Service. Once, his medical centre had a backlog of used syringes which had to be stored in his bunk shared with his fellow comrades. Unfortunately, the syringes kept everyone awake at night.

“The problems started that night. A number of guys experienced sleep paralysis. Among them were the guys who had protested about the boxes so I dismissed it as mass hysteria initially.”

4. GUI DA QIANG IN SINGAPORE

The next one is centred upon a phenomenon rather one story. User nightwind0332, explains about the concept of Gui Da Qiang which literally translates to ‘ghost erecting walls’. This phenomenon is basically when a person encounters the same place over and over again despite trying to leave the area. For example, someone ending up in the same intersection of a deserted road despite taking different routes to leave the place countless times. The author also explains that this can happen on foot as well when someone may be stuck in the same area of a forest despite trying different footpaths to leave. The author goes on to share a personal encounter of Gui Da Qiang.

“After driving for about 10 minutes, by which time I should have left the road, I noticed the scenery getting familiar. It was the same bend in the road, which at this point was surrounded by trees on both sides. My GPS didn’t work and my phone had no service/signal, but that was to be expected around those parts.”

5. THE PEEPER

The last one may or may not be a supernatural occurrence. Still, it is downright creepy and is bound to keep you hugging your pillow tightly at night with your eyes wide open. Shared by user whybeanonymous12121, the story is about how her window always seems to be slightly ajar when she makes sure that she closes it. Living on the ground floor, she believes that someone has been peeping on her after finding a handprint on her outer window which was slightly open. She nearly catches the person one day but even the police cannot seem to nab the mysterious figure.

“A chill ran through my spine as I ducked and quickly put on my shorts. Taking a deep breath, I went to my window and pulled aside the curtain. The window was slightly ajar and right next to it, hanging on the grill were my chijmes. I tried to look outside, but couldn’t see anything in the darkness.”
