The Storyteller From Venus ~ On PatiencesteemCreated with Sketch.

The need for patience in our lives is as essential as our daily nutrients.
There are instances, when a decision needs to be made at that moment.
Then there are other times where we will benefit more by exercising patience. With patience
oftentimes the answers will come.

Mistakes are born often from task we rush into without giving much thought or consideration
to the decisions' long term effects. Sometimes the answer is just to wait.
Time can bring an entirely new view of the matter at hand.

Patience also eliminates the urge to, 'make it happen'.

Patience is a valuable virtue, a jewel undiscovered.
The lack thereof can be likened to the man that came ever Friday to the river's bank; to board the ship that would pick up passengers for the return trip home.

He had come every Friday for 8 weeks hoping to board the ship to return to his country but unlike many others he did not wait for the ship's arrival.
Since it did not have a designated time to arrive, those hoping to board the ship would have to wait.
Yet for this young man the ship always took too long.

He had a passion for his native country and a deep longing to return home. There was nothing that kept him from being able to board any of the other ships that had docked in weeks past, other than the fact that he did not have the patience to wait.

On the ninth week he returned to the river's bank where he was told by fellow awaiting passengers that
they had been given a time on that day for the ship to arrive.

They tried to encourage him to stay and not to leave because this would be the final docking for the return trip home.
They told him that if he truly wanted to see his home again, he must be there when the ship came.

The ship was scheduled to arrive at noon. He said he would stay because he wanted to return to his country. He knew this was the last ship that would take him there.

At noon there was no sign of the ship. The young man said his good-byes to his fellow countrymen with tears in his eyes. "I must leave now, he said."
The others questioned his refusal to wait. One woman asked the young man "Why can't you wait a few minutes?"
"Your whole life you've dreamed about this moment. You must be patient and you can go with us."
"What is patience, asked the young man?" With a puzzled look on his face, he turned and walked away.
The ship docked at 12:05.

Thank you for sharing your wise insight. Am resonating with this on many levels... Love the vision of the beginning of the journey overlapping the end of another.

Wow @ndbeledrifts "Am resonating with this on many levels" this is what I was going for, that means my mission was accomplished. It is always my desire that my poetry and prose impact the reader. Thank you for your heartfelt comments.

I've a firmer ground in my heart than anywhere else -- a quality I find patience nurtures in me. I wanted to tell you since this post I've returned time and time again to this concept, and been encouraged by knowing another (you) have that same regard for patience, that way continues. Thanks again!

thank you for sharing what you have here @ndbeledrifts. This touches my heart and it is good to know that we do both think this way about patience. It is definitely a virtue to contemplate deeply on. For me it brings balance. I find myself often trying to fight in the moment what was not meant to be mainly because I grew up a spoiled brat, and not getting what I want can be a problem and I am glad to say that over the last decade I have gotten much better at just being still and letting things happen as they should. I have learned that everything that occurs in our life does not need our help to come forth or to not come forth and we need to be okay with somethings that don't happen as we would wish. Keep in touch @ndbeledrifts.

I'm brought to the metaphor of the mountain and the sea, the mountain tall and unrelenting, but the sea, deep, and seething, over time, the mountain surrenders to salt... Being spoiled for me, is the unwillingness to submit to the waves of emotion which contradict my "stability". Yes for me it can feel like an uphill battle. I try to keep a distance, to observe the dynamics, the theater of the constellations, the interplay of the elements. I take my role as creator - artist- worker with my hands - sometimes too seriously. I value your voice where wind and birdsong mostly interject. Thank you for your work.

Awesome story!
