Watching "Breaking Bad" and methamphetamine

in story •  8 years ago  (edited)

I haven't had television for years, so if I watch any television programming, it's through netflix. I had heard of "breaking bad", but i never thought to watch it. The main reason being, that methamphetamine destroys lives. I live in an area where the meth head zombies roam.

I have friends who had serious problems with methamphetamine and I have a friend who is destroying her life with a meth addiction. Possibly losing her high paying job and losing her kids because of meth.

I know she had been a pill popper then she started dating an ex heroine addict, who soon started riding the dragon again. It's weird how she is always finding addicts, but that's how addicts are.

After her boyfriend got back on heroin heavy, she broke up with him because she was just a pill popper at the time. But as soon as she broke up with him, she started hanging with a group of rehabilitated addicts. I don't think rehabbing addicts should hang out with each other, but I see it everyday and its like playing with fire.

So my friend soon started doing heroin and methamphetamine no more than a few months of breaking up with a heroin addict. Soon her job was in jeopardy, so she immediately put herself into rehab so her job would be protected.

After she came out of rehab, she was relocated in her job and seemed to be a new and improved self. I hadn't seen her in person for months but i had noticed her loosing all kinds of weight on facebook post. I'm talking ridiculous weight...maybe 70 pounds or so. To imagine this woman's build: She has the biggest natural breasts I have ever seen and an ass the size of kansas. All this junk and a small waist, so you always had to take a second glance. Now she looks like she is 20 years older, and has lost all that sexy she used to have. She looks tired and worn out. It's that crazy methamphetamine!

So when it comes to "Breaking Bad", its a compelling story, but methamphetamine destroys lives everyday. And "breaking bad" seems to help the cause for meth manufacturing.

I loved the breaking bad series, watched a box set while I was recovering from a broken ankle. I totally agree with you it did seem to help the cause for meth manufacturing, although in the end the last man standing was the one who wanted out!

While I get that BB hits a little too close to home for you, it's still a great show. I see your point though, I won't watch Orange is the New Black because I don't like prison shows. Prison scares me to death. Not because I've ever been in prison, but I know people who have and it's unpleasant to say the least.

Prison has been my biggest fear since a child...and im straight laced. Thank you for the reply.

I just dont understand why there are individuals prefer on destroying somebody's for the sake of money. Is money truely the root of all evil? It could be, but for a magnitude reason we need money to live but to acquire it in a manner that will destroy a person is unacceptable. Why dont they just resort on something that is much rewarding comparrd to selling meth.

I agree! Thank you for the reply.

I come from a similar area. My best friends brother was shot and killed over 20 bucks worth of meth, so I understand where you are coming from. With that being said, I advise you watch the show. It is possibly the best television show in history. Hal does such a great job playing a meth boss.

Friends told me about that new series they are binge watching which is totally awesome, memes appeared on 9gag (I admit I was a regular), so I had it explained to me. "So this chemistry teacher is sick and can't afford his treatment and starts to cook up the best meth in the country."

This is the hero of the story?

I am good at not spoiling stories for myself, but this time I was so sure I'd never watch it that I read the synopses on Wikipedia.

Yes. A guy who cooks pure poison is the hero of the story.

Humans worry me greatly.
