The story of Hudson - The Mahicantuck

It is said that one of the pre Hudson names for The Hudson River as christened by the native tribes was Mahicantuck-means "great waters in constant motion" or, more loosely, "river that flows two ways." The name followed the fact that the Hudson was more than a river-it is a tidal estuary... an infiltration of freshwater by salty sea water or maybe the other way round. Picture taken from the one world observatory...wondering which way the water is flowing.
