Explore the campground. No rocks. Find decent amount of wood. Drink from pond. I mean, lifestraw, of course. Works like a charm. Water check. Downed wood check. Try to construct hatchet from sea shell and palm tree. Works decently, for a tiny bit. Pine doesnt make good walking sticks. Neither does palm. Many hawks in the sky. 4-5, dancing with eachother. Still no rocks x3. Cut my hand x3. Loud yellow bug, fast as hell. Met Officer Ferguson, chill dude. Making sure I wasn't in college. Pretty girl on a bike. Make fire tonight. Shell hatchet v. 2.0.

It was the most calm day of my entire life. I think the only talking I did or listened to was Officer Ferguson, who was making sure I wasn't a college kid there to break more glass. Speaking of that broken glass.

I had to piss at some unknown time of night. I powered my flashlight, slipped on my hikers, and crept out into the shadow. Found a nice spot on the opposite side of the tree outside my tent. I threw the light over the field while I proceeded, and noted all the glints of broken glass. Soon after zipping up, I noticed one of the reflective shards begin to move.

I inspected more closely, and found the reflections over most of the field were indeed spider eyes. I watched a moment as the pine forest floor around me slowly stalked through the night. Then promptly pissed a second time, this time in my pants, while diving into my tent and not coming out until morning.

Also, there's no rocks. I was trying to make some sort of crappy hatchet. Not a rock to be found. I took rocks for granted being from Ohio, turns out. Other absences worth noting would be the fire I started. It was pitiful, and lasted an hour at best.

The hawks turned out not to be hawks, which we will learn about later, and imbibing the pond water made me feel alive. So did the cuts I sustained breaking up firewood with no tools (fucking rocks).

As the fire was petering on sadly, I was sighing and heading to the tent for my book. Another early night. At least the forest sleep was decent.
