Smoke. Dirt. Blood. Body parts.
Mox looked around him and couldn’t believe his eyes. His ears were ringing like crazy. The Black Foxes’ members were all on the ground. Nobody was spared. Groans, old men crying like babies or yelling and cursing because of the pain.
“How could this happen?” Mox asked himself. Was he overconfident? Was this transport so precious?
But while all these thoughts were wandering in his head, another cannon shot was heard. This one seemed now even louder and more dangerous that the previous one.
Mox was thrown over a rock by the blast. He hit his head and started to bleed really badly from the top of his head.
The Silver Guard army approached them.
“Captain Neihart, the perimeter is secure" a man saluted the captain.
“Neihart, why is a Neihart here?” Mox thought, struggling to maintain his conscience. Half of his face was covered with the blood that poured from his head.
This captain seemed to be a young man, around the same age as Mox. His black hair was perfectly combed and his clothes were all nice and tidy. He looked with cold eyes at the scene and asked his subordinate:
“How many are still alive?”
“Around 10. But all of them are injured”
“Tend to their wounds. Try to keep them always alive, if possible. Their leader is among them?”
“We believe it’s that one" the subordinate pointed toward Mox, that was flanked by two guards.
The captain made them a sign to bring him over to him.
“Oh, still standing! Call me impressed” the captain praised Mox, that dragged his feet toward him.
“Why is a Neihart here" Mox asked, striving to say each word, like a drowning man struggling for air.
“That’s none of your business. I will ask the questions. But that will be later. You look like you’re about to collapse. I want you to be conscious, so I can enjoy the terror in your eyes" the captain said, laughing sadistically. Then he turned toward his subordinate:
“What about the traitor?”
“What traitor?" Mox wanted to ask, but the words didn’t come out.
“It seems he died"
“What traitor?” Mox tried once again, but his mouth didn't make a sound.
“A perfect fate" the captain laughed, looking at the dead bodies placed neatly in two rows.
“What traitor?” Mox shouted, this time managing to make some sounds.
“Huh, you’re still here?”
“What traitor" Mox asked desperately, trying to move toward the captain, but collapsing at his feet, losing conscience.
“Take him away" the captain ordered, looking at Mox with disdain.
A cameraman arrived at the scene, taking a picture of the dead and the captured.
Then the captain took the captured men and left toward town, leaving behind a small group to take care of the bodies and to clear the lines.
A new train could be heard going through the tunnel.
In case you forgot, Neihart is the family that controls the Monero Conglomerate. So why was a member of that family here?
And what will happen now with Mox and the rest of the survivors?
