Mox returned to the cell. The looks of everyone were stuck on him. Dac wanted to say something, but he kept his words.
“Say it, Dac. Say what’s on your chest” Mox advised him. “You look like you have something to say to me.”
Dac gave him again an angry look, the same look that he gave him since they were placed in the same room.
“It’s all your fault. You insisted to make a big score before you left. You dragged us into this” Dac finally said his piece, after a few moments of silence.
“You’re right.” Mox answered, placing his head down. “It’s all my fault. I will do everything in my powers to get you alive from this.”
“Ha, ha, ha! How, how will you do that?” Dac left out an hysterical laugh.
“Maybe I’ll pray to God.” Mox replied, sparking a chuckle from Bass. “Let’s wait and see how the trial will go.”
Mox sat on the bench and closed his eyes. He would try to get some sleep every time he could. He learned in Butcher’s room that time can run really fast. And you have to enjoy the little moments of peace that you have. Because hell can come down to you in a second. And you are never prepared for it. You think you are, but in reality you don’t. Because you can never predict the future. There is always a variable that you’ll miss.
Looking back, Mox knew that all he did was wrong. He trusted everything on Mike and his brother regarding the information. He didn’t double checked his steps and focused too much on the painting. Not looking at the people around him, turned to be the biggest pain in the ass right now. At least those bastards got what they deserved. But that didn’t make him happy in any way.
Maybe that Neyhart captain will manage to come through. If not, he will try to look stunning in on the hanging platform.
And so the day passed in silence. Some men were pacing the room. A few of them were visited by their families and that left with tears in their eyes. It was hard to wait your fate to be decided by other people. Mox sweared to himself that if he managed to get out of this, he will never be in this kind of position ever again. He and only he could decide his fate.
The time passed and day of the trial arrived. Five day passed since they were taken by the sheriff from the Silver Guard. It’s been a little bit over a week since they tried to rob the train.
Everyone from the town and from the surrounding heard about it. And everyone was heading to the city hall. They all wanted to have a look over the famous Black Foxes that tried to fight against the Monero conglomerate.
There were mixed feelings about this big company. Some were happy about it, because it increased the economics in the area. Others had the same feelings as the Black Foxes. The tactics they used to buy land and business were despised by many.
The whole town was filled with an electric atmosphere. The trial of the Black Foxes was about to begin.
