One day a young Abdul Qadir asked his mother's permission to go to Baghdad. This boy is eager to visit the homes of the pious people there and gain as much knowledge from them.

The mother blessed. Given to Abd al-Qadir forty dinars for the journey. To be safe, the money is kept in a pocket that is purposely made in the underarm position. The mother did not forget to ask Abd al-Qadir to always say the truth in every circumstance. He noticed the message very well, then he came out with the last greeting.

"Go, I have entrusted your salvation to God so that you may receive His providence," pleaded Abdul Qadir's mother.

The brave boy went with a camel caravan group that was also heading to the city of Baghdad. When crossing a place called Hamdan, suddenly sixty horse riders approached and seized the caravan's entourage.

Unique, none of the robbers approached Abd al-Qadir. Until finally one of them tried to ask him, "O people fakir, what do you bring?"

"I brought forty dinars," Abdul Qadir replied innocently.

"Where did you put it?"

"I put it in a tightly stitched pocket under my armpits."

The robber did not believe and thought Abdul Qadir was teasing him. He left the boy.

After a while, another member of the group came up with the same question. Abdul Qadir again responded with what it is. Again, his honest words did not get a serious response and the robbers were just walking away.

The leader of the robber band was surprised when two of his men told him Abdul Qadir's answer.

"Call Abdul Qadir here!" He ordered.

"What are you carrying?" Asked the robber's head.

"Forty dinars."

"Where's the forty dinars now?"

"It's in a tightly stitched pocket under my armpits."

Correct. After the robber's head ordered the men to search Abdul Qadir's armpits, they found forty dinars. Abdul Qadir's attitude made the robbers shake their heads. Had he lied, the robbers would not have known let alone the appearance of Abd al-Qadir when it was as simple as the poor.

"What prompted you to confess?"

"My mother ordered to say the truth. I dare not disobey him, "replied Abdul Qadir.

The leader of the robber was crying, as if he was being struck by a deep regret at the answer, the head of the robbery was frightened, then shouted, tore his shirt and said, "You dare not disobey your mother's promise, while I have for many years broken the promise of my Lord."

Then the leader of the robber ordered his men to immediately return the property they had taken from the caravan.

Witnessing this incident the leader of the robbery said,

"You are our leader in robbery, and now you are our leader in repentance."

The robber's robbery also declared repentance in the presence of Abdul Qadir, a little boy whose name will be fragrant in the eyes of the world as Sulthanul Auliya 'Shaykh Abdul Qadir al-Jailani. The drama of repentance is then followed by the mass of robbers' men.

The story is narrated in the book of Irsyadul 'Ibad by Sheikh Zainuddin bin Abdul' Aziz al-Malibari, who quotes the story of al-Yafi'i, from Abu Abdillah Muhammad bin Muqatil, from Sheikh Abdul Qadir al-Jailani. (Mahbib)

Kisah Syekh Abdul Qadir Al-Jailani Menghadapi Perampok Dengan KEJUJURAN

“Aku membawa empat puluh dinar,” jawab Abdul Qadir polos.

Perintahnya.

“Apa yang kamu bawa?” Tanya kepala perampok itu.

“Empat puluh dinar.”

Benar. Setelah kepala perampok memerintah para anak buah menggeledah ketiak Abdul Qadir, ditemukanlah uang sebanyak empat puluh dinar.

(Mahbib)
