Everything that can go wrong will go wrong

Have you ever planned a holiday or weekend away from home and everything just goes wrong???

Well that happened to us last weekend but we persisted and then brought the bad luck with us on what was supposed to be our little break.

It all started on Saturday morning. We had decided that we were going to take our trip to Johannesburg with Daniel's mom and because they had a farewell for his brother we were supposed to go through a day early and spend the night in her house. On a previous occasion she made us sleep in separate beds, something he wasn't happy about and told her to not invite him to stay over if that will be the case again. So the day before we were supposed to leave we get a call from him mom telling us that the cottage, where I guess we were going to stay had flooded because of the rain and we would have to sleep in separate rooms. Daniel was furious about this so after calming him down I suggested that we talk to his brother that lives in the same town. So we had all our issues sorted or so we thought.

That night just before going to bed we were supposed to arm the alarm for our neighbors in the big house as well as the beams. The way this works is that we have a remote which when we press the button to arm the beams, if the house is armed it disarms it and we need to then arm everything... No problem right? Wrong. Our neighbors left without giving us access to the main security board and without telling us that their door is a little flimsy at picking up that it's closed... So I disarmed their house to switch on the beams, it switches off... then I try arming it all... Nothing. My heart sank. Barefoot I walked around their house to check for broken/ open windows and doors. I saw nothing and tried arming it at the door and was only answered with a beep...

At this point I had a mini panic attack because what if. Immediately I try and get a hold of our neighbors while Daniel tries the land lady. First try no one picks up. Second try I finally get my neighbors and explain the situation. They were calm and just said it's fine they will be back the next day we can just leave the house without protection for now. Honestly I didn't feel good about this but with nothing we could do we went to bed praying our car will be there the next day.

Sunday, um well this is where things really started to go against us. I woke up, got out of bed and made us breakfast. While I was gone Daniel woke up and whilst trying to get out of bed, he broke it... Daniel weighs just about 65kg, we have a wooden bed, or so we thought. Turns out that the bed frame had been attached to chip board and that the legs and support beams where smaller than the frame and also attached to the chip board which had now broken. Because this isn't our bed we decided that since we had a few hours before we had to leave, we were already packed and had nothing better to do we would run to a hardware store to get a measuring tape and if we had time we would go back and get the wooden board to fix the bed.

We got ready, got in the car and tried opening the electronic gate... It would not open. So we call the land lady and explain the whole situation. She then calls out someone to assist us. The min we put the phone down the gate opens. Daniel wasn't in the car at this point and the gate closes after just a couple of seconds. Before he could get in the car the gate closes and won't open again. Finally after struggling I get it to open and Daniel drives out. Without our bags. We waited for the guy to show up and the minute he did... The gate opens without a problem. Ain't that just like Murphy to do something like that.

We get back after getting the tape an hour before we had to leave and decide to call an actual handy man to help get the board and fix the bed. (Update bed is still broken)

Monday comes and we leave 3 hours later than discussed. It is a 6 hour drive and my future mother in law still needed to book into their accommodation. There was no way we were going to make it in time. Not only were they late, but we got lost in Johannesburg. Bright side, the lady at their accommodation waited for them to show before leaving. Now it was our turn. We were staying at my mom's place and she was stuck in a meeting so we were stuck sitting in her car for another hour, phone batteries dying. Then we were told that there was no power at home.

Great. We get to her place, eat some cold food and decide to call it a night.

Tuesday
I needed to go to the clinic because I had injured my toe to the point where my flesh was escaping it's skin prison. After them hurting me a little more I was given antibiotics for an infection and sent on my merry way. We went to open a wedding gift registry (at the request of my grandmother) but the shop we went to was busy with stock taking and we couldn't register anything. For those of you who don't know, Our wedding is in Johannesburg, we live in Kwazulu-Natal and we have a very tiny car. (I never wanted big gits and would of course prefer lots of envelopes with money. (lighter to carry)

Wednesday
Today it was Daniel's turn to have a medical procedure. (Wisdom tooth removal). After injecting him with 3 times the average numbing agent/ anesthetic. He still felt everything and was in so much pain that I could physically see his heart beating in his chest. His body went into shock and they sprayed his face with cold water and cold air to get some color back in his face. After calling in a specialist he was injected another time, he still felt everything but they at last pulled his tooth after almost an hour of him screaming as well as he can in the chair... It was like watching a movie about torture expect you could feel it too. (I had given my had as sacrifice and he was squeezing it like I would imagine a woman giving birth would break her supporter's hand. He still had to drive after because I was unable.

Thursday
We said goodbye to his little brother and made the 6 hour drive back home. Daniel was driving the whole way.

A few other things happened as well but I'm not over it just yet.

Needless to say when we got home all we wanted to really do was nothing...

P.S. I failed to mention that after that whole wisdom tooth, Daniel needs to go back to do another one.
