Leaving the western Mediterranean can only be done through one door, the Strait of Gibraltar). Here, an ocean and a sea meet and can leave as traces of their reunion only a chao made of waves, current and a venturi effect feared by all. Add to this cocktail the hundreds of freighters, ferries or other fishing boats that you will come across in less than four hours and you will get that amount of stress that you would rather have done without! And then on certain days like today, everything seems simple, the breeze and the current seem to want to accompany you nicely, and the traffic of the boats seems to be directed by very calm captains on their rail. Tangier, guardian of Morocco in the strait, then comes naturally to the azimuth.

Southern Morocco offers no other choice than to stop the boat inside the marinas. Clandestinity obliges, the coast guards lock the littoral and prohibit any wild anchorage. Sad reflection of the inability of Man to mix. The Tangier marina is still brand new and so are the skills of the reception staff. It will take several hours to finally be issued the entry clearance to the country. We always laugh afterwards, but during the wait the looks are often much more tense, mine included!

The marina is in the heart of the city, and provides easy access by foot. The city is alive, all the neighborhoods, from the most authentic to the most modern, are very busy. Perfect for doing some last shopping, and resting before the first big crossing to Porto Santo ...
