Story from photo : “The Trap”

in storyfromphoto •  7 years ago  (edited)

Last night, I had the most beautiful dream. In the dream, I was walking on a country road; the morning sun was shining with all its brightness and purity. The breeze was cold yet pleasant. The world was wonderful again. During my walk, I saw a leafless dried tree by the road, soaked with morning dewdrops. They were holding on to the tips of the branches like crystal pearls. I couldn’t help but touching them with my fingertips. But as I approached my hand, the dream broke, and I woke up in my narrow, dark, concrete room, full of dust, and stuffed with furniture.

I sat up on my bed and looked out the window, up to the sky, the ever free roof of the earth; the only roof that gives you a sense of freedom. I wished I could fly, out of this dirt pile of a city into the land I just saw in my broken dream. Can that ever happen? – I asked myself.

I got off of the bed and went to the balcony. A small cell you can call it. Reminds you of captivity more than anything else. But it’s the only good place among the worsts. It closes you in from three sides with a wall behind you. I looked out from the gaps between the grilles to the densely populated area with narrow buildings and the sky, gray of pollution. I thought of the dream I just had, it made me feel a subtle pain inside me. Will I ever get out? – I asked myself.

I walked two steps towards the grills; put my eyes through the rectangular shaped gap, trying to create a frame. I play this game often; it is something to have fun with when you have nothing else. Like a prisoner learns to look at the lonely sparrow as his best friend who has to spend years in a narrow cell with nothing much to do, and nowhere to go. Do I have nowhere to go? – I asked myself.

Well, maybe… I am trapped in this life with a mind of an adventurer who wants to travel the world, to explore the most distant corners of the earth and beyond. But, I’m trapped in this narrow balcony that seems like a prison cell with only concrete, dust and darkness out and below. Will I ever get out? – I asked myself…

The cold grills answered: "No….."

Hello, and thanks for the submission. I really liked it, the photos were a somewhat snapshots, but that did complement your story. I would go on a limb to guess this is a personal take, am I right?

And the answer to the last question in your story should be a resounding YES. No matter what the grills tell you! :)

I resteemed and upvoted this. I'll be writing a brief review over all the received stories in the coming few days, so be posted for that.

Helo sir, please is this a contest? If yes, then how to I join and what do I need to do sir?

Great my friend, your story has a lot of content, message. For me it is the best story.

thank you samic,it's really nice of to say that :) - but i still think you've submitted the best one :)

You describe those moments in which humans feel trapped either from thoughts or lifestyle etc. I think we all have at some point felt this and your story is very well developed, the photos speak the same languages :)

that's true, everyone feels that way at some point in their lives, the good thing is most don't dwell there forever. :) and thank you for your compliment, it truly means a lot :)
