Abdullah bin Mubarak, a scholar at the time of Tabi'in (a follower or student of the companions of the Prophet), once walked around the market and saw a horse that was sold for 40 dirhams. So he said, "Cheap price for this horse !!"
He intended to buy it, but the seller who was honest said, "O Syech, this horse has its weaknesses !!"
"What are the weaknesses?"
"This horse cannot be spurred, it stops when pursued by the enemy so it is overtaken (caught), and it always neighs when told to shut up !!"
"Then the price is too expensive," Ibn Mubarak said, and he canceled it.
One time Abdullah bin Mubarak saw one of his students riding the horse. In fact, he saw him plunge into one of the battles by driving it. Of course that made him wonder about the truth of the information the seller gave about the weakness of the horse.
On one occasion, Ibn Mubarak called his student and asked about the horse which he had bought. He said, "Have you proven the weakness of the horse?"
The Disciple tells us that he did prove it. But after that he whispered into his horse's ear, "O horse, I have forsaken all sins, I have repented and returned to God. Therefore, you also repent and leave your bad temper. I promise I will not take you to the path of immorality to Allah. "
Hearing the whisper, it appeared that the horse moved his head three times, as if very happy, and after that he became a submissive horse as seen by Abdullah bin Mubarak. Then the disciple learned that the horse owner had previously been a despotic infidel, so the horse often cursed him and often dropped him from his back. it was the bad character that was carried on the horse when he was sold.
