Hafthor Julius Bjornsson is known as the strongest man in Iceland and he is the winner of iceland's strongest man competition from 2011 to 2015. He was second runner up in the worlds strongest man competition in 2015 and runner up in 2014. He is also the winner of Europe's strongest man from 2014 to 2015. Hafthor begin his career as a basketball player. He played professionally for the Icelandic Division 1 basketball team, "FSu Selfoss Basketball team", from 2007 to 2008. But later he was forced to quit his professional career due to the knee injury at the age of 20 and he had to consider other career options.

On January 2015, Hafthor broke 1000-year old record by carrying 32 feet long, 650kg log for five steps at the World's Strongest Viking competition in Norway. Orm Storulfsson is the previous record holder, who carried a similar log for 3 steps.

Hafthor was acted as Gregor Clegane, "The Mountain", for the HBO series's Game of Thrones in August 2013. He is the youngest actor to play the role Gregor on Game of Thrones which had continued for more than one season due to his appearance...
