Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must: a) complete an online application describing the proposed project; and b) submit a simple project budget. The budget should indicate the total amount requested (either $2,000 or $5,000) and the basic costs of the proposed project.

The online application will ask applicants to describe the following components of the proposed project:

• Goals for student learning, how the applicant will measure progress toward these goals, and how the project goals addresses needs associated with the Covid-19 pandemic
• Student need, including how student need has evolved in light of the Covid-19 pandemic
• Activities the educator and students will be engage in reaching the project goals
• How the proposed project will address educational equity and opportunity gaps
• How the proposed project will provide a model that can be shared with other educators

Applications will be evaluated based on how clearly and completely they address each of these components. In addition, the project budget will be evaluated based on how realistic and frugal it is, and the extent to which it correlates with the project’s goals.

Eligibility
Applicants must be teachers, education support professionals, or specialized instructional support personnel and must be current NEA members. Current NEA Foundation grantees are ineligible for this funding opportunity. A successful proposal will also make an individual ineligible for other NEA Foundation funding opportunities, until the grant is successfully completed and closed out.

*Education support professionals (ESPs) are defined as: paraeducators; school bus drivers or other transportation staff; custodial and maintenance staff food services staff school nurses, health aides and other health and student services staff; clerical staff; security staff; skilled trades staff; and technical services staff.

*Specialized instructional support personnel (SISP) include professionals such as school counselors, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, library media specialists, speech pathologists and others.
