Keele University was the first brand-new institution to be founded in the United Kingdom at the turn of the 20th century. Over 70% of Keele University's undergraduates choose the Dual Honours degree today, making it the institution that first offered it.

The University's 10,000 undergraduate students come from about 120 different countries, and almost all of them are able to study abroad for a semester at one of its 80 partner institutions.

Keele almost always ranks in the top three universities for student happiness. The 600-acre campus of Keele University is made up of parkland, lakes, and woods. The main draw on the property is Keele Hall, a Grade II listed building from the nineteenth century.

History

In 1949, Staffordshire, England's Keele University was established. Keele is halfway between Birmingham and Manchester, only a few miles from the urban areas of Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent, and 20 miles from the Peak District, a picturesque national park renowned for its natural beauty. It is regarded as the biggest campus in the nation and features a few notable buildings and a science park.

In the National Student Survey, Keele consistently ranks among the top ten universities in the UK, and its student union is among the top five in the country for a variety of available activities. The Daily Telegraph ranked Keele University's campus as the sixth most attractive in the UK. Keele has been ranked among the top universities in the world in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

Keele provides an inviting environment for international students. Numerous cultural events are planned and celebrated throughout the year. In addition to two sports halls that meet national standards, the university also runs a climbing wall, a single-court gym, a wellness centre, and a dance studio. It is also the first university in the nation to maintain all of the "Kinesis" gym's amenities.

The institution keeps a graduation rate of more than 90%. The university established a fellowship college in 2011 to promote its initiatives outside of the realm of traditional academia. It is now run by recent graduates from Staffordshire who work in the business, media, and by important stakeholders. There are many distinguished leaders of reputable organizations among the university's large and diverse alumni base.

Keele was ranked among very distinguished company in the most recent Times Higher Education Global University Rankings.

80% of Keele's research was rated as either world-leading or internationally good according to the results of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021, an increase of 75% from the previous REF in 2014.

University of Keele Scholarships

For both international and EU students, Keele University provides a variety of scholarships that are specific to various nations, fields of study, and areas of expertise. Some scholarships will need an individual application from each applicant, while others might be given out automatically.

Worldwide Scholarships 2023

Keele University has announced some new scholarship opportunities for self-funded students. It's interesting to note that students do not need to submit separate applications for these Keele scholarships. These tuition cost reductions are automatically available to students who meet the eligibility requirements.
Scholarships for International Excellence at Keele

Undergraduate

This award is open to international undergraduate students studying a variety of subjects. However, programmes in medicine are exempt from it. The candidates must meet the requirements for eligibility. The cost will be £2,500 for each academic year.

This scholarship is also open to students who are considering the Keele Foundation Year programme. Of course, there are some requirements for eligibility.
For qualified candidates, the university may combine this award with the Keele Developing Countries Scholarship.

A graduate-level course

This award covers a variety of postgraduate taught programme subject areas. However, the only ones who are excluded are those in the medical and physiotherapy programmes. One-time tuition fee discounts with a maximum value of $5,000 are available to Graduate international students will automatically receive the scholarship as a tuition fee discount if they have already

received one of the following awards during their undergraduate studies:

1st – £5,000
2:1 – £2,500
2:2 – £1,000

If you are eligible, the university may combine this award with the Keele Developing Countries Scholarship and the Keele Alumni Discount.

Alumni Discount for Keele

Both on-campus and online Keele graduates are eligible for this opportunity. They are eligible for a 20% tuition fee discount. Students who have taken exchange courses at Keele in the past or who have finished a study abroad programme are also qualified for this fee reduction.

Students should be aware that the university may combine this scholarship with other Keele awards, and that the 20% discount will only be applied after all other award discounts have been taken into account.

The World Bank lists the least developed, low-income, and lower-middle-income nations as of December 2018. These nations offer scholarships worth £1000 per year of study to their citizens.

Accommodations for Living

International undergraduate students who apply by the deadline will be provided with on-campus housing. Over 2,800 students have access to a range of housing options on campus, including traditional, en suite, and flats, to suit a variety of budgets. There are standard and en suite rooms available, as well as catered options.

A Keele team located on campus manages the housing. Additionally available are laundry facilities, social gathering places, and activities.

The Keele housing team can help students with off-campus housing as well.

Transport

  • The Keele University campus centre is located 10 minutes' walk from on-campus housing. Every class is held on campus.
  • The main shopping centres, Hanley and Newcastle-under-Lyme, are serviced by frequent buses that pass through the campus.
  • From the nearby main Stoke-on-Trent train station, it takes 1.5 hours to get to London and less than an hour to get to Manchester and Birmingham.
  • Keele's geographic centre places it close to Manchester and Birmingham airports as well as other significant airports in the region.

Location

Newcastle-under-Lyme is close to the Staffordshire campus of Keele University. Located in the centre of the nation, it is just over an hour from Manchester and Birmingham and less than two hours from London. A collection of English cities and towns with a long history of ceramic production going back to the Industrial Revolution are collectively referred to as The Potteries.
