Astronomers uncovered the appearance of the first 'alien' asteroid to visit the solar system. Reportedly, the shape of the asteroid is like a big cigar.
From these apparitions, it is evident that objects from outer space have the same shape with many familiar UFOs from science fiction and eyewitnesses of the stars. Scientists from the European Southern Observatory (ESO) have released new details about the first foreign asteroids seen in our solar system, which he said 'not seen before'.
The object is named A / 2017 U1 or Oumuamua. This is the first asteroid seen to arrive in the galaxy's environment after driving past the interstellar space, the name for a blank and wide void between the stars.
The 400-meter-long asteroid may have traveled through space on a deserted journey for hundreds of millions of years before being snared by the gravitational pull of the sun.
Then glide through the solar system at a speed of about 60,000 miles per hour before thrown into space again to continue his solitary journey among the stars.
Olivier Hainaut, an ESO astronomer and his colleagues, has just published a paper that discusses 'a short visit from a very red and very elongated interstellar asteroid'. He said the dark red thing was about 400 meters long, shaped like a cigar and probably made of metal or stone.
"We continue to observe this unique object and we hope to be more accurate in determining where it comes from and where the next tour of the galaxy is going," he said.
"And now that we've found the first cornerstone, we're getting ready for the next one," he said.
It is believed that one alien asteroid visits our solar system every year, but it is often very difficult to recognize. Oumuamua is seen using a telescope called Pan-STARRS and expected similar objects will also be recognized in the coming years.
"Oumuamua may have wandered through the Milky Way, not tied to any star system, for hundreds of millions of years before meeting the Solar System," Hainaut added.
Unfortunately, alien hunters may be disappointed with the truth about this cigar-shaped object. Spotters UFOs have reported seeing a number of strange sightings of similar objects in the sky.
Cigar-shaped UFOs were seen in Glasgow in 2015 and others were seen near the International Space Station in the same year.
