I've seen too many people lately lament at losing 2-3 hours of work just before they hit POST. So I've taken to writing and editing drafts in Word first, then just cutting & pasting into the post. It usually just requires adding line spaces.
I grew up with mimeograph copies so this Steemit stuff is pretty "Jetson-esque" by comparison.

Word tries to correct things for me, so I stopped using it. I wanted to use the 'greater-than' symbol to create a 'quote' and it kept putting in a fancy bullet. I switched to using Notepad++. It is a free text editor used by coders for making web pages and other such things. Notepad++ allows you to put in all your markdown code ahead of time then when all done, copy and paste and you are done except to add any new images. I save my work as a text file (.txt).

I'm not sure what you mean by a markdown submit story form. Do you mean you are using a template to create your posts? If so, you can copy the template into Notepad++ (or even just use Windows Notepad) and save the template there as a .txt file. Then simply use that as your new template for future posts.

Hi, @mammasitta No your are not the first. Just before I post a story on Steemit I usually 'select all' and copy paste it into another editor (notepad) and save it.
Then post it on steemit. If something goes wrong you still have the whole post completely fine in another editor.
If the post I'm working on is long then I just copy paste the whole thing every 20-30 min as a backup in another editor.

I started using Chrome again with Steemit, seems to be much quicker and more stable. Also I started to use an offline editor, I use MacDown for MacBook. It is a free tool and is markdown style, so it allows more than the WYSIWYG editor of Steemit, eg center text and images. I now can also write posts without having to open my browser, have internet connected; Very convenient.

Hi! I understand your frustration. Here is my advice. Don't type your post directly on Steemit. First create it in Word (for example) and save it. Then, even if your browser crashes, you have your work saved on your computer. I'm looking forward to your new posts.

Try to type your post in Word and insert all the pics there before you post it on Steemit. BUT press "Ctrl+S" periodically (easy to do with left hand), that's the shortcut in Word that saves a lot of time and energy ;)
