Recently I posted something on Facebook that has got a lot of attention. The fact that you should focus on helping people without the intention of making money from them. That the satisfaction you will get from helping people - is the real return on your investment.
The post got 100 likes within a day or so, one of my most popular posts. It's great to see that so many in my Facebook friends circle appreciate this way of thinking.
It's emotional intelligence really. Being able to connect with people at an emotional level, identify their problems, and help them resolve it. Doing it for money spoils it because you are only helping them because you want to sell them something. Otherwise you're not interested.
I get it if the solution is your service and you are trying to do business. What I'm talking about is helping people with no intention of making sales. Not chasing the money, will allow you to focus on building relationships. You may lose a sale or two in the short term, but that relationship and brand recognition will make you win in the long term.
It's all about showing people what you're about. If you can be yourself and the real you is someone people just love so much, you can't lose.
So basically, stop focusing on making sales, and start focusing on making a difference. Have the patience, and you will see the benefits beyond belief.
