SUMMER SOLSTICE CHALLENGE - WHAT DOES SUMMER MEAN TO YOU?

The longest day of the year, the summer solstice, arrives tomorrow, ushering in summer and all that goes with it!

So what does summer mean to you? How does it make you feel?

You can share a memory, a poem, a few sights/sounds/smells/tastes, a song, a photo.

For those of you who live in lands 'down under', please don't feel left out, even though it's winter in your neck of the woods. Are you perhaps feeling nostalgic for summer? Or maybe not! Feel free to chime in!

Let's get the summer celebration started. Here a few things that summer means to me;

staying up late to watch the stars come out
a robin singing as twilight falls
the fresh, sweet scent of salt air and wild roses
a blast of warmth engulfing me after stepping out of an air-conditioned movie theater
drifting off to sleep with the sensation of floating in the ocean waves
choruses of crickets
coconut scented suntan lotion
the cooling sensation of Noxema on a sunburn
4th of July parades and fireworks
