The longest day of the year, the summer solstice, arrives tomorrow, ushering in summer and all that goes with it!

So what does summer mean to you? How does it make you feel?

You can share a memory, a poem, a few sights/sounds/smells/tastes, a song, a photo.
It's up to you! This is purely for fun!

For those of you who live in lands 'down under', please don't feel left out, even though it's winter in your neck of the woods. Are you perhaps feeling nostalgic for summer? Or maybe not! Feel free to chime in!

Let's get the summer celebration started. Here a few things that summer means to me;

staying up late to watch the stars come out
a robin singing as twilight falls
the fresh, sweet scent of salt air and wild roses
a blast of warmth engulfing me after stepping out of an air-conditioned movie theater
drifting off to sleep with the sensation of floating in the ocean waves
choruses of crickets
coconut scented suntan lotion
the cooling sensation of Noxema on a sunburn
4th of July parades and fireworks

Okay, now it's your turn!

Summer means breakfast on my balcony and dinner in my patio, fishes swimming slowly in my pond, a thirsty yet rewarding garden and hosting barbecues, lots of them!

Sounds wonderful!

Love the warmth! Great post, enjoy your day!

Summer means relaxation. Life seems to blissfully slow down under the summer sun here in Tucson. It feels great. I don't mind the heat. Great post and I am resteeming it.

Thank you so much for the resteem! I don't mind the summer heat either, not one bit!

Summer means late nights and early mornings. Although in Cape Town it feels like winter has only just arrived.
