Sunday walk - Along the Rhine

Despite my increasing commitment to explore the far corners of space I will not give up on my recreative habit of going on my Sunday photo walks.

As so often I started at the Rhine and made a detour to the old University garden. However, an astonishingly icy wind drove me further into the city center, where I enjoyed inspecting the newly built extension of Basel's Art Museum.

Top: The medieval "Mittlere Brücke", connecting so-called Greater and Lesser Basel. Bottom: Looking towards the right bank of the Rhine. In the background rises the Roche-Tower 1, Switzerland's highest skyscraper.

Approaching the newly built extension of the famous Basel Art Museum. It's grey, monolithic appearance is impressive.

It was almost 20 years ago that I traveled the Rhine, from Wiesbaden to Dusseldorf. The picture on the right, in your first and second grouping, reminds me of that scenery. Today I've nothing quite as dramatic to offer. Just a simple Sunday stroll by a family of geese, as they cross a prosaic parking lot. My daughter caught the scene on her cell phone and sent it to me yesterday, because she knows I love geese. Site: Long Island, New York, USA. It's been raining every day here, mostly a gentle spring rain.

What a nice scene, thanks for sharing! I hope the geese family arrived safe and sound at their home ;)

Constantin

Basel is really beautiful. Unfortunately, I had caught a rainy day on my trip there a few years ago...

It is, indeed. And there is a lot to explore also inside of the many Museums and Exhibitions if the weather doesn't play along.
