RELIGION Vs CHRISTIANITY

According to English dictionary definition, Religion is "The belief in and worship of a supernatural controlling power, especially a personal god or gods" 'a particular system of faith and worship'
Man by nature is a religious being. There is always a crave in humanity to worship something higher and more powerful than himself. Some philosophers claim that fear, wonder of creation and the need to invent new things makes man to believe in a higher authority.
Today, we have several religions in the world and human lives are ordered by the tenets of these religions. Belief has become a way of life that creates culture and traditions to define the individuals and communities.
There are so many in the world! Let's examine these few and see if we reason the same way or if you have many questions like me.

ISLAM

A religion promulgated by the Prophet Mohammed in the 7th Century with 'Allah' as the deity. Their formula for faith is "There is no God but Allah" and all their teachings are enunciated in the Koran.
Islam spreads by Jihad. It is called the religion of peace. It is dominantly practiced in the Middle East, North Africa, and has spread all over the world!
The question that border me however is, if it is the religion of peace, why is it that anywhere there is a dominance of this religion, there is terrorism, war and insecurity? image
Why this symbol in most of the Islamic flag? The crossed sword? Those who know should educate those of us who do not know.

PEGANISM

Peganism or Traditional Religion encompass divers communities with specific traditions, practices, or elements such as ecology, witchcraft, occultism, beliefs in certain gods such as god of iron, wood, rocks, water, heavenly bodies and so on. Their Shrine or temple show what they deify. Worshippers are everywhere! In fact, the beauty of this religion is that many people combine the worship with other forms of worship. This is because it is believed that it answers prayers more quickly than other forms of worship. It does not require faith so stringently and it is used to wreck revenge, or quick human desires. That is why many people prefer to have it as support. It is called idolatory, frowned at by the God of the Christians.

CHRISTIANITY.

People believe that Christianity is a religion and they are superficially right! To the initiate, there are two different things. Religion by definition is a system adopted by man to seek, and worship a higher power that he/she believes can protect, and answer his prayers. He then formulates ways, adopt methods to deify, reverence and fear the objects of worship. Many of the religions in the world falls into this category. But for Christian initiates, Christianity is God Almighty looking for how to save man who is lost already. God Almighty all by Himself finding ways, seeking access to bring mankind who He created to be like Him, come back to fellowship with Him!
Man was lost, man was already driven away from the garden of plenty, mankind was now the property of the devil doomed for death! Like it says in Isaiah 53:6 NLT "All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God's paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the sins of us all."
This is buttressed by another verse of the scriptures which says
"Romans 5:8 But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
1 Peter 3:18 NLT
Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit"
Should we still call Christianity a religion? Please do educate me.

What I think is that fanatics and misguided elements within a religion make a religion look evil. Terrorists are terrorists and I think we should see them as such. Although they are predominantly muslims I believe it is not Islam that is a terror but the human elements.

Generally speaking, I believe religion should be a personal thing. Everyone should practice whatever religion appeals to his thinking. After all, when we were born, our parents did not seek our permission before dragging us to their own religion.
