Clip Studio Paint, Attempt No. 3

I love this program. I never realized how much of a struggle it was using my old paint program. Two things it lacked was 1) sensitivity control for the stylus, and 2) line stabilization. Because of that, I was always very careful with every brush stroke and had to change brush sizes a lot. Nevermore I say!

This was done pretty quickly. The black ink layer was so much faster than my old process with paint.net and has the more cartooney (roughly Archie-level) feel that I wanted for Kickman. Brush strokes using the CSP G-pen have an almost Ty Wilson quality to them. I actually feel like I'm drawing again, whereas before I felt like I was, I dunno "drafting" or "plotting" each character. The hardest thing for me to draw in paint.net was long, curved lines... especially thighs. With CSP, one swipe and it just seems to land perfectly, maybe because I feel like an artist again and am not fighting the tools. I thought it would be a few weeks before I switch to CSP, but I actually just finished this week's Java Jaguar page for Wednesday using the new software, so we'll see what my audience thinks.

Here's a process gif for the generic superbabe. You can see that I did actually import a generic 3-d background from CSP and then just drew quickly over it then threw some color in the sky.

The G-Pen is hands down my favorite inking tool. Glad you’re enjoying the whole experience so far. Good tools can make a world of difference.
