Whatever it takes... My survival story

I'm not the kind of a person that can't keep promises. I promised you to post about my downhill skiing, and today I'll do it. Whatever it takes! Just let me first tell you why it took me so long.

Our family was ill, technically, I and my son were ill, we had this influenza crap as I wrote in my earlier post. We were already winning it and not him nor I got any post diseases. Yiihaa! Oh wait, don't celebrate just yet. After our almost full recovery my husband had to leave on a business trip for a week. That's ok, I can handle it all alone, I'm a capable girl! So, I had to go to work, take our son to daycare in the mornings, get him from daycare after my work day, handle groceries, make food, clean, play with him, perform all our evening routines and all the rest. And this all would have been just fine BUT he was teething! He was so angry and cranky all the time and he refused to take painkillers! Our evenings were something... :/ And I can't blame him, it was his first molar, it probably hurt awfully! His whole cheek was swollen and the gum was deep red. Poor thing. His daddy's "hang on there" messages didn't really help me as I wanted to hang myself instead (just kidding, you humorless ;) ). Well, I just had to decide to survive, whatever it takes!

Just when I thought that it's almost over and it was our last night without our daddy he became sick again. Not just sick, he got severe vomiting. X( I'm not exaggerating when I'm saying that this night was a hell on earth... He threw up in his own bed, in my bed four times and on me directly. Every time I tried to save the bed but failed heavily. I just end up rolling the bed sheets and placed them on the balcony as I couldn't deal with them at that moment any better. We had to take two showers during the night when he got all messy. Well, I needed a shower too those times. I guess we were lucky that I didn't have to wash him all every time and a couple of times I only had to wash his face and hands. That actually required some small sacrifices from my side. This time, I also had to decide to survive, whatever it takes...

Ok, enough of this disgusting topic. Just wanted to share my pain with you.
As I told you, I will post about my downhill skiing trip today. Whatever it takes, I'll do it! Even though I'm actually dead tired after cleaning and doing laundry for the whole weekend.

That doesn't sound good! Feeling any better?

We are fine now. :D

Nice to hear!

Well done, maybe your husband can handle it next time.

These things usually happen when he is away...

Oh no. I know exactly what you're talking about. It's been a few years since my daughter was little and would make a mess of things like that when ill. But I remember it vividly. Stay strong!

BTW, is that Makkarajärvi in the picture?

Thank you! I hope we will avoid these situations as much as possible.

This is suolijärvi! :)

Is this the southern end? I mean should the swimming area be to the right on the opposite shore?

The picture is from this area. This is the shore path.

That's exactly what I thought: the southern end of Suolijärvi.

The trail in the picture is part of the skiing trail from Taivalpirtti in the winter. I've been to that place thousands of times in my free time and also during physical education in primary school and upper secondary school. I went to middle school in Sampola because we had moved out of Hervanta about eight months before I began seventh grade.

So, familiar places. I love that shore path really much! It is so peaceful, beautiful and empowering. It's amazing to find such a place so close to your house.

I used to love skiing to the eastern end of Hervantajärvi and back when I lived in Hervanta. I used to live on Mestarinkatu and the Suolijärvi trail would start a five-minute walking distance away from our home.

By the way, Suolijärvi would be a great place to take photos as, particularly in the autumn.

In my opinion Hervanta is an underestimated place. It has so many advantages!

excellent locataion

The picture is not really related to the post...

This is really sad :( sorry to hear that!! Hope it is all over now, and all is well!!!
