a sensation produced in one modality when a stimulus is applied to another modality, as when the hearing of a certain sound induces the visualization of a certain color.
SO after years of wondering what was going on with me I found out it has a name. Synesthesia! From what I have read so far, the largest number of people with synesthesia see numbers or letters in certain colors. Some see music with color or pattern like Kayne West, but for me my synesthesia is purely associated with sex.
How to explain this is sorta difficult, I guess the idea is that you have crossed wired something in your brain that is causing weird associations that would not usually be there. Since we create new neuro pathways all the time as we learn and expand our minds I am not sure why this is seen as a mess up in brain wiring, to me it is pretty creative and amazing to get to experience. I first noticed I had this happen to me after I had been having sex for a couple of years. It did not happen with the first person I was with and I am not sure if it is a trust issue or if something after that point caused the synesthsia to start.
Basically, penetrative sex very often puts me in almost a semi- trance type state and the actual feeling of sex FEELS and LOOKS in my mind like COLOR and sometimes PATTERNS. What way to help someone understand what it's like to feel color is beyond me but I will say it is spectacular!
I have read up a little on this but it's something like 1% of the population of people who have synesthesia have it in a sexual way and only something like 2% of the population have any form of it at all so information seems to be limited at this time. I did read a study that associated certain colors with certain states of arousal but that study did not seem to fit with my personal case. Many times colors switch back and forth and can occasionally even pattern themselves out into amazing images/feelings. The highest intensity color for me is always green, and no that's not my favorite color in general. Yellow and purple are also very intense colors for me but every color is good of course. I do not feel/see browns,black, or white.
I have desired to become a painter, and paint what it is I feel/see. I even considered how cool it would be if I could date each painting and write a sexy explaination of each painting to tell what inspired it. Ahh but so far I am no painter. Maybe in the future. I do not know if anyone would buy that kind of art but it would interest me. I wonder and bet that it may be an ego boost to my partner to hear how colorful of a time we have had. I do wish it was both of us who could feel/see what amazing worlds we are creating together with our bodies.
