Technically, Genship Exiles isn't the next Hammercalled game to be released, because Segira: 1985 is going to come out first, but it's the new hotness. I've been teasing it to my Patreon supporters, and they should be getting a significant preview shortly.
Segira: 1985 is due for release in September, awaiting final updates to the vehicle rules, some setting writing, and a final release. We're aiming for a December release for Genship Exiles.
Genship Exiles is a love-letter to old-school sci-fi; science fiction dedicated to the exploration of the unknown. While it's intended to be a "hard sci-fi" experience, we want it to have vibrancy and life associated with it.
The core rules will be based off of Hammercalled, but utilize an alternate system for character development and other changes to reflect a more narrative approach to the gaming process. Players cooperate to explore and create the universe that they inhabit, though it is not intended to be a GM-less experience.
Because of this, many of the new rules are focused on having players play a role in a community; the Genship Exiles that the game takes its title from. While the players are ultimately responsible for creating the factions and worldviews of the Exiles, they have one universal goal: find a new world for their people. Storytelling unfolds with a deliberate pace; character advancement occurs both individually and as a group, and characters are retired and replaced by their descendants as the generation ship plots its course through the stars.
Genship Exiles will be our first game to be released under a traditional copyright license, but all the rules will be available in the Hammercalled Rules Reference 2.0, and a free Player's Guide will be available (and serve as a print-friendly reference for players).
As always, we're hoping to create a great game for our fans, so feel free to ask any questions or give any feedback! We'd love to hear from you over on our Discord server.
