Mindset of Nepalese People
A dominating society where women are just machines for doing house hold work, giving birth to new generations and that is it, they do not take decision or take part in any high recognition work that could be stated as no to being a boss in simple words, the dark side and the bright side women are raising voice and making their life better starting new trends wearing whatever they like, doing whatever they want earning more money that any other person, but their is a twist it all happens in urban area, society is adapting the situation where women are taking lead but still in the rural areas of Nepal is Lacking the knowledge that women are able to do great things rather than cleaning and cooking.

Wow! what a beautiful face and beautiful babies, seems like a happy life going on. Behind is the truth the house where she works daily, no excuses made, you can not earn well, you have to cook food on time, you can not go to enjoy, you have to make your family happy, you can not touch the precious things, you can not let any of the things stolen or you have to guard it, you can clear the dunk of animals, go feed them, extract some milk, clean houses, washing dishes, give birth to new babies against your will some times, laundry, wait still you can not get out of the house it is aginst the ancient tradition, just be inside the house and do your work. Now is the time to meet your family, there must be any celebration or some sad environment like death of any family member. Even then you have to take permission and if your man is kind enough to let you go then you can cry or smile according to the situation.

Period Taboos in Nepal
You are doing everything, everyday, touching cleaning laundry children family everything but there are 4 days in a month where you are freed because there is a custom in Nepal, during periods you cannot touch anything, you cannot go anywhere, some places are like you have to sleep in cattles stay for four days sometime six days. During the periods you are not suppose to do any traditional work, you are restricted to get out of your home, you are restricted to the kitchen, restricted to the temple, restriction to touch anyone not even your own children, you can not even allowed to cry load even your cramps are there as your friend. Just visualize the scenario a women staying in a smelly bed of dried grass, someone is throwing you a food like animal, giving you water like anything could happen, you wake up can not touch you children, and vice versa. Can you live this life being a well off individual. Women of Nepal are living this, yes we are in 2023 still the same.

But their magical face and magical smile we can not imagine their suffering in words.

Another Taboo is related to caste where you can not talk about, according to the governmental rule and regulation you can not differentiate any individual with their status, name or any activity but.

Cast Taboo in Nepal
Let’s know some caste type before diving into it, the highest value caste is “THAKURI” as they have King’s blood in their system, the worship caste who direct you to God, that is copyright to the God, the caste type is “Brahman”, the fighter for the country blood line caste “Chhetry” they all lie on the upper side of the caste line, in the middle line stays the “Newar” treaded in between of highers and lowers, if you want to know more about Newar crazy stuff click here and the lower differentiated are “Damai”, “Kami”, “Sunar” and others who do the hard word, their caste are categorized in their profession like Damai is suppose to do tailor work according to the society, sunar does gold work, and so on.

This might sound like caste are properly grouped, may be but what is the dark side of caste discrimination in Nepal?

Today in 2023, a lot have changed now you can hang out with everyone but back then in 1900’s the situation was different, We can assure you the rural parts of Nepal are still not fully over the caste discrimination, they still have boundaries to the caste, Some of them are:-

You can not marry an upper-level caste person, for example, if you are Damai you cannot marry a Chhetry or above.
Back then you have to sit below them, you can not sit beside them.
You were not allowed to touch the upper caste person.
You were not allowed in a good society for higher education.
You were restricted from Godly activities.
You cannot touch water.

Can you believe these rules are made for living humans?

But the current situation is different people of Nepal are accepting each other. Appreciation of talent is going on, people are inviting each other for good, marriages are still a point to discuss, eating together, having fun is getting common now a days. Many rules and Quotas are specific for the dedicated peoples which are pushing the people to participate in the better work, there is no boundaries now to study where ever you want in most of the places.

Gender
Are you a girl or a boy? or something else, choosing on google give you an option rather not to say, but do you really think not saying anything stops you to being yourself? The question arises, do you want to compress your feelings, more question do you not feel alone, some more and unlimited. Nepal a country of custom and religion do not accept LGBTQ scenario till now, people are accepting their feeling realizing that they are different than just boy or a girl, showing their faces and announcing their relation but there is nothing as a law for the society. You cannot marry each other legally, people stare you as if you are doing something bad, a last option is leaving the society going abroad, hiding feeling and some times end of life.
