Christie's Tarot- Introductory Tarot Course - (A Week of the Fool- Week 2, Day 1)

Always remember this is for entertainment only!

This week we are going to get to grips with the fool.

Today we are going to look at the basic' of what the Fool means in his upright position, on his own.

Let's start with some key words:

  • Opportunity
  • Beginning
  • Freedom
  • Risk
  • Folly
  • Liberty
  • Rebellious
  • Exciting

The Fool card can be known as the 'wild card' as the Fool has an ability to change a reading through it's unpredictable behaviour. As has no number (he is the zero of the pack) and can either weaken a fortune, or strengthen. Just like the joker in a deck of playing cards.

The Fool is very versatile in what it has to offer a tarot reading. It can reflect an emotion and also an action. It is very hard to read this card on it's own as it could mean a variety of things, (we will be looking at pairings later in the course) but ultimately when he comes to, it means that something is definitely happening.

This is not about sitting on the fence.

The Fool could be a reckless person or an exciting new love. He could be an entrepreneur with a new lead, or a business man taking a risk.

Describing a person

The Fool can certainly be a fun person, male or female. Sometimes a little naive, but also underestimated. In business they can be very entrepreneurial, and in love, quite the romantic. Sometimes poetic, but certainly a dreamer, always perusing that extra goal. You may find the Fool inconsistent, but charming. Sometimes the Fool can a loner with an eccentric personality, or the class clown with an inability to commit.

The Fool is no doubt, a maverick that is full of charm.

As guidance

If this comes in your guidance, you may be encouraged to take a risk, or seek out an opportunity. The Fool is telling you to enjoy life and do not conform. There are plenty of cards that can give warnings. The Fool is not a warning card, it is there to show opportunities. It can only be a warning if it is paired with a negative card.

In reverse

I don't personally reverse cards, but some like do this to add to a reading. If the Fool is reversed then the guidance would be the opposite in this case (Not all reversals are negative) It would suggest to watch out for the 'folly' the 'risks' and the 'inconsistencies'  in whichever area you are seeking guidance. I prefer to use upright cards in readings and then to pair, as it adds more flavour to a reading.

Tarot in poem

This is Tarot poem that sums him up just right.

To draw the fool is an auspicious time

 A wildcard in the pack

Depending where your card is placed

Nothing should hold you back

There is an exception to the rule

That’s if the card should lead

Because whatever cards do follow

 Their advice you should heed

The Fool is an opportunist

Seeking a new beginning

But is the beginning light or dark?

Be sure that you are winning

The Fool is merely the conduit

Leading a way of life

The fool can bring many a thing

A job, home, husband or wife

The fool is the leader of the deck

Showing you the way

Follow him with a loving heart

And hear what he has to say

The Fool in art

To really get to grips with the Fool, I recommend you draw him. Now, I am no artist but I drew this picture on the paint program and I am so glad I did. It captures everything I imagine about the Fool. The peering over the wall, looking for opportunities. The romance of the hearts, holding his fortune and of course the keys that could represent his new house, business or car.

It's a fun way to learn and remember.

I hope you enjoyed today. The next blog will look at significant times & dates and seasons.

So much 💜 for this!

First off, I don't like reversals either! I used to feel bad about ignoring them, like it made me a bad Tarot reader, but I've come to terms with it in recent years.

Love the poem and the artwork! Great ideas for connecting with the card. I'm looking forward to reading more of your posts, Tarot and otherwise!

Thank you Traciyork! I think we are tsught reversals give more detail but for me they seem to dilute it, I personally like to use a pairing system. <3

Yep, I always found they confused the reading (and usually the person I was reading for). The minute I decided to always place the cards right side up, everything clicked. I've heard of the pairing system, but never tried it - hope you write about it in an upcoming post! 🙂✨

Yes, I will go into that later on for sure.:-)

Awesomesauce! 😎

I am totally not an artist, but I probably should draw the Fool...

Im not an artist but I found it really helps
