Caelis Barcelona Good Value Michelin Star Restaurant

Value value value, as savvy foodies, we love to look for good value meals…

You don’t need to break the bank to experience a Michelin Star restaurant.  One of the tips is to look for their lunch deals.  During our last trip in Barcelona, we tried Caelis tasting lunch menu.  For 39 euro per person, we enjoyed a very delicious three course meal with wine and coffee.

Caelis earned one Michelin Star in 2001, chef Romain Fornell was the youngest French cook with a Michelin Star. The restaurant located inside the classic and luxurious El Palace hotel, and it is near the popular shopping street Passeig de Gracia.  Hahaa a bonus for Emma who loves to shop :p

We arrived early….people in Barcelona don’t eat lunch until 1:00pm or 1:30pm, it is a challenge for us….

Beautiful hotel lobby, where we waited for the restaurant to open.

Emma was the first guest entered the restaurant.

Once we settled down, we were served with welcome Cavas (Spanish Champagne) and hors d’oeuvres.

Grilled tomato with salmon roes, sea urchin cream with caviars, fried chip that tasted like crispy fried pork.

Paste from the mini tooth paste tub was for the fried chip.

For appetizer JJ ordered soup and Emma ordered gnocchi with mushrooms and black truffle…….yum yum Emma loves anything with the word “TRUFFLE”.

After we finished the first course, these flatwares were placed on our table.  We tried to figure out why we need that tweezer looking tool???

For our main course, we both picked the smoked duck breast.  So happy that we made the right choice, we both enjoyed this dish very much, the smoked duck meats were served with heated charcoals to keep the pleasant smoke aroma in the air.  The duck meats were very tender and juicy and the skins were crispy.  Just the way we love it.

Mystery solved….we needed the tweezer looking tool to move the duck meat to our plate.

Plate that served with the duck breast.

For last course, we tried both their dessert and cheese plate.  Dessert was average but the cheese plate was pretty good.

Cappuccino and latte to end our happy value meal.
