It’s actually a sheer genius idea on the govt’s part.
They make laws saying you have to pay more taxes for illegal activities, knowing that no one will claim them/file these items on their taxes. This way when they find out the illegal activities after the fact they can add additional fees to the tax/court bill. When that person does get out of jail it will be even more tax collections and paycheck withholding for years after the criminal has gotten out of jail. It’s all so they can throw more of the book at the criminal and drain every last penny that person may have. It all makes perfect sense if you’re the govt even though many people can’t see the bigger picture I’m discussing.
Make it so there’s even more reason to get fees and taxes out of people after they are caught doing the illicit activities, and all they had to do was add a few paragraphs worth of laws and boom they make millions if not billions in additional taxes if they do catch the criminals (knowing the criminals will never report this added income). Brilliant honestly, if you are trying to drain someone of all of their property, this is how you do it!
