Paid some taxes today

in taxes •  5 years ago  (edited)

A few moments earlier while I was sitting in the car and writing some posts on Steem, I noticed I received an email from the social security office in Lithuania. The message said that because of my individual economic activity, I owed them 362,30 Eur and 105,52 Eur in state social security and mandatory health insurance taxes.

These taxes came for my revenue in playing of organ recitals in 2018 at home and abroad and I was supposed to pay them by May 2 this year. But apparently I paid other taxes (we pay a lot of taxes in Lithuania) and these two slipped my mind.

Luckily I had my phone and internet connection with me in the car. So I simply made two bank transfers to the social security office.

Although these taxes came unexpectedly to me, I am grateful to the representative of the agency to contact me. Because if they didn't, a month or two later I would have to pay some late fees as well.

Next year I need to remember to pay them on time.

For individual activity in Lithuania we pay almost 19 percent in taxes. I wish they were lower, of course. Then more creative people would be compelled to take their future in their own hands.

Are taxes for individual activity high in your country?

I hope they will lower the taxes in the UK so that people can be more incentivized more individual economic activity...

PS Let's hope Steem goes to double digits and then you can come back to Lithuania!

I got letter that i don't need return tax for 2018-2019. In uk they don't take tax for any penny, only if you start to make huge money.if you pay a small amount to them, they never check you.

And that is one of the reasons people leave Lithuania for UK, I guess.

A lot Lithuanians register their company in UK, if they understand english. I opened non profit good cause service in LITHUANIA. They asked me, why are you doing this? I said to help people! They started to laugh at me with open mouth!!!! If you would not bankrupt we will make you!!!!!!
Sad,but In Lithuania still, exist communism rules! Weird country...

It is sad indeed...

But that is really a huge sum of money for tax

It's one of the reasons people are leaving the country to go to UK to work where taxes are lower.

I wouldn't be commenting on the topic but the photo got me clicking. Thanks for showing us a better view of the castle which I commented on your previous post. And those three stone statues remind me of the ones in Easter island

Haha! You are right! These statues I think symbolize ancient Lithuanian warriors so you are really close here...
